Tag: Favorite and relatable book quotes

I’ve originally posted this on my main blog (check it out HERE), but also wanted to post it here. I love book quotes and it’s hard not to share.

I also thought that this would be so much fun as a tag –  if you are reading this – you are tagged. I personally tag: Elise , alwaysbooking and Carrie.

Share your favorite quotes with the world. And comment your link here, so I can enjoy them, and hopefully add them to my favorites ❤ giphy“She generally gave herself very good advice, (though she very seldom followed it).”

“If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn’t. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn’t be. And what it wouldn’t be, it would. You see?”

“I find lateness exceptionally rude; it’s so disrespectful, implying unambiguously that you consider yourself and your own time to be so much more valuable than the other person’s.”

“Maybe there were people who lived those lives. Maybe this girl was one of them. But what about the rest of us? What about the nobodies and the nothings, the invisible girls? We learn to hold our heads as if we wear crowns. We learn to wring magic from the ordinary. That was how you survived when you weren’t chosen, when there was no royal blood in your veins. When the world owed you nothing, you demanded something of it anyway.”

“I definitely wasn’t cold. I was liquid heat. I was terror and curiosity and denial disguised as indifference.”

“Why love the woman who is your wife? Her nose breathes in the air of a world that I know; therefore I love that nose. Her ears hear music I might sing half the night through; therefore I love her ears. Her eyes delight in seasons of the land; and so I love those eyes. Her tongue knows quince, peach, chokeberry, mint and lime; I love to hear it speaking. Because her flesh knows heat, cold, affliction, I know fire, snow, and pain. Shared and once again shared experience.”

  1. I just wanted to share my favorite quote from Eugenides “The Virgin Suicides”:
“We could never understand why the girls cared so much about being mature, or why they felt compelled to compliment each other, but sometimes, after one of us had read a long portion of the diary out loud, we had to fight back the urge to hug one another or tell each other how pretty we were. We felt the imprisonment of being a girl, the way it made your mind active and dreamy, and how you ended up knowing which colors went together. We knew that the girls were our twins, that we all existed in space like animals with identical skins, and that they knew everything about us though we couldn’t fathom them at all. We knew finally that the girls were really woman in disguise, that they understood love even death, and that our job was merely to create the noise that seemed to fascinate them.”

I liked how it sounded raw and poetic. 👌🏼

  2. The Alice in Wonderland quote is the only part I liked about the book. LOL Well, the original story anyway. This is me, through and through. I always have the best of intentions and can give some excellent advice. I’ve been told that I should be a councilor. But I am horrible at following through.
