Burn, rewrite, reread – book tag.

This tag couldn’t have come at a better time as I have been very slump-y recently. Slumping in reading, slumping in writing. Just slump all over. ugh. So thank you to dear Maram for tagging me ❤

The goal in this tag is to randomize your Goodreads “read” shelf, pick the first three books, and state some opinions about them.

Round 1

Burn: Harry Potter and the cursed child by J.K. Rowling for obvious reasons. This book (if you can even call it that) should not exist.

Rewrite: The Sea of monsters by Rick Riordan I wouldn’t say rewrite per say, but I remember this one not being as good as the others. I think 1 and 3 were my favorites.

Reread: The husband’s secret by Liane Moriarty this was quite entertaining so I would reread it. Some day. Not soon though.

Round 2

Burn: Allegiant by Veronica Roth this book can honestly burn and I won’t even care. I already feel bad for all the trees that had to die for this book to be printed.

Rewrite: Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi I loathed the writing in this book. And also all of the cliche tropes. But I still have to admit that is was quick, easy and addicting to read. So maybe if it’s rewritten I would enjoy it?

Reread: The screwtape letters by C.S. Lewis This book is not something you can just lightly read. It’s something that is best taken in little doses, while highlighting all of the things that you found profound or relatable. I would definitely reread it.

Round 3

Burn: I am number Four by Pittacus Lore I did not care about this book at all. It was totally cliche. Characters were flat, the plot predictable and overall it was all just very underwhelming. Burn!

Rewrite: Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen This was my first book by Austen and what a drag. I was bored out of my mind. Either Austen is not the writer for me, or maybe if this one was rewritten I’d enjoy it? I am still going to give some of her other book a chance though.

Reread: Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo I love this series with all my heart. And yes, book number 2 is a bit slow, Mal is a complete dingus in it and overall is just very middle-book-like. But I don’t care. I love it. + it has Nikolai! ❤ and he makes everything better.

Round 4

Burn: A court of thorns and roses by SJM Well I think I am going to get burned for this myself! But SJM is just not a writer for me. I don’t care for all of the smut scenes (especially written by her, they are all just so very cringe-y!). I had a lot of problems with the plot and abuse-rape glorification in this book. I have to admit though, that her writing is pretty addicting though, so I totally get and respect why everybody loves it.

Rewrite: In other lands by Sarah Rees Brennan This book had so much potential and great messages in it, but it was very poorly executed in my opinion. Also, pretty boring.

Reread: From sand and Ash by Amy Harmon Always and forever I will love this book and it will be on my favorites list. A WWII romance novel. Just thinking of it makes me want to reread it.

Round 5

Burn: Every heart a doorway by Seanan McGuire This one has been taking Goodreads by storm lately, but I really disliked it. I saw some issues that I just couldn’t overlook in it, and it really lacked plot-wise for me. Burn!

Rewrite: Winter (The lunar chronicles) by Marissa Meyer I loved the series, but this book gave me much grief. It was too long. Had some problematic themes and issues, and just wasn’t as good as the previous 3.

Reread:Ari and Dante… by Benjamin Saenz If you haven’t read this yet, I think you should. Ari was one of the characters I bonded instantly with. The whole book is raw filled with emotions and love. Read it.

That is it folks. Hope that I didn’t offend anybody with my burn choices, and if I did – well it’s not like I’d actually ever burn a book and those are my choices anyway.

I’d love to tag :

Reading peaches

The bookish actress

And everybody else who hasn’t done it yet.

  1. Thanks again for tagging me! This really looks like fun. 😮
I only read a few of the books you mentioned but omg! I hope you will give Austen another shot!! I’m a big fun of hers tbh. “Northanger Abbey” might be a good place for a second chance! It’s a bit of satire on ghotic novels & it’s really funny & enjoyable. Tho I think “Mansfield Park” is actually my fav, together w P&P???
I haven’t even read more than a synopsis on The Cursed Child & some snippets on the internet but I’m glad we’re of the same opinion lmao.
Also god I just reread Ari & Dante last month for like the third time… Still as soft & beautiful as the first time! :>

  2. I feel like a dummy here, but I don’t get how this one works. You pick 3 books at random, and decide which of them to burn, which to rewrite and which to reread? What if I wouldn’t burn any? Or reread any? I need more instruction. LoL

    1. I kind of was confused too, but I just went for it. For all I know is you make your GR read shelf random and pick 3 top books. Hopefully one of them is so good that you won’t mind rereading. Then one is so bad that you’d rather burn it. and the third one is good, but could have been better so you’d like it to be rewritten?:)

      1. I’ve looked up a few others, including Ally from Hardback Hoarder on YouTube and the original by Lauren Ann https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IkMhMxeJQPk So I guess yeah… you do just pick three books at random just like you did. Haha I guess that’s the challenge of the tag. But what if they’re all three Harry Potter books…. *HORROR MUSIC*
